Personalized Custom Diamond Painting Kits: A Buying and Using guide
While buying diamond painting kits online, the sellers give you two options: to purchase any art piece (previously manufactured) or to customize your own. Seem quite exciting, right?
It’s important to decide either you should go with a customized kit or a previously designed canvas kit. It is easy; if you are new to it, prefer using a previously designed, else, customize your own.
Custom diamond painting allows you to either personalize your art and upload a picture of yourself, your boyfriend, family, kids or beloved pet, or, to create your on-demand art by choosing any picture, of anyone or anything you want, and crafting it. It can be your favorite rock band, athlete, celeb, or, well… You got the point…
The reason for doing so is that you should work on your imperfections while practicing on a relatively easy background. Once you’re good at it, you can always customize your own.
For making a personalized artwork, you need to attach the picture for background (The bigger, the better!) and select your desired canvas size. The diamond kit company will provide you with personalized picture background and diamonds that are to be used on it. Both kits have around 447 colors.
(Note: Make sure you choose an appropriate size for your masterpiece)

Make sure that the picture or photo you wish to upload is high quality and large enough
Your picture should be well pixelized, clear and sharp. It also better if it is large.
Diamond drills are like pixels – the more you will have, the better the image will look.
If the colors of the photo are not clear, nor pixelated, the image will look blurry.
You will want to upload a high-resolution image for a clear result, and for doing so, I advise you to zoom in your desired image, and see how it looks like while zooming in.

Pay attention to the canvas you are ordering
You would want to choose the right orientation for your canvas, and the right size.
Let’s start with Canvas orientation:
Is your original picture a portrait? Or maybe a landscape? Well, obviously, the canvas should have the same ratios of your image. If your image is square, order a square canvas.
And if your image is landscape, go for a landscape canvas, such 90cm/60cm. Not doing so will force you to crop either your image or your canvas.
Is for the ideal size of your canvas, it should depend on how detailed your picture or photo is. Here, just go with your sense. If your photo includes your whole family, go for the largest canvas size, and if your photo includes your cat only, you can go for a small canvas size for your diamond paint. Anyway, bottom line is that the large your canvas is, the more detailed your art will be, for good and bad.

You would not want to upload a photo with a lot of shading, or unclear dark parts
If your photo is slightly green, or a bit blue, the dominant color (on our case green and blue) will be magnified 1000 times (X1000!) when Turing it into a digital painting kit. Also, if there are parts in the photo which contain several colors that it is almost impossible to notice, you will notice them in the diamond painting kit. For example, sometimes there are white parts in general, but with small portions of grey and brown. You might better notice the grey and brown parts while looking at the diamond painting kit, due to pixel perfect printing.
The way to solve this is by adjusting your photo, playing a bit with the colors and shades. There are tons of online tools for doing that, such Befunky.

Do’s while making a Custom Diamond Art:
Making a perfect masterpiece is everyone’s dream. If you are trying this for the first time, you might see some imperfections in your artwork.
Here is how you can lessen the flaws in your artwork:
Use of a high-quality photo is the first and foremost factor to a beautiful piece of diamond art. Make sure your picture is not pixelated. You can zoom in to it to check the quality of the image. Using blur pictures can make your painting a blunder.

Colours and shading play an essential role too! Choose a photo with suitable lightening. Try to see and amend colours when pictures are zoomed in. Use primary colours only because a slight wrong shade can bleed into light colours

Picture alignment and canvas size should be fitting. It might be a tricky job. Calculate your canvas size according to the picture you have chosen.

Shapes of diamond Drills
Diamond drills come in two shapes: square and circle (round), each having its unique properties.
Round Drills:
Beginners favor these drills. They are easy to pick and place on the canvas and shine more. However, on the other hand round drills give an incomplete look when done. Another disadvantage of using such beads is that dust may fill in the gaps and stick to adhesive canvases.
Square Drills:
Preferred by skilled artists, square drills give your painting a complete look. There are no gaps in between beads. This may prove to be more satisfying to the painter as they make a “tick” sound while being fixed in place. It gives an elegant look whether you look from a distance or go near it.
Full and Partial Drill Custom Diamond Painting – a closer look:
All the painting is covered with diamonds. Full drill paintings give a better
and complete look for your art, but involve more work and time.
In partial drill diamond painting art, only a few parts of the item are covered
with diamonds. It is suitable for beginners and relatively cheaper to buy.
