Simply spread out your canvas on a flat, even surface and stack up heavy books on the corners, sides and in the middle of it. You can use any thick heavy books you have lying around — dictionaries, encyclopedias, hardbound novels or grandma’s thick recipe books. Leave it for a few hours (or overnight, if you have the patience!). You’ll have a perfectly flat and even canvas afterwards!

Quick fix: For some people, the peel and stick method works, too!

But what if you’re not a book-loving person? Try the peel and stick method, instead! A quick disclaimer, though, this method doesn’t seem to work 100% of the time. So don’t worry if you find your canvas still rolling themselves up after you tried this trick.

Simple peel open one side of the canvas and then stick the plastic film back again. This process seems to magically straighten them out. No promises though, as each canvas is unique and may not straighten out easily.

TIP #4: Seal the deal with any clear drying adhesive

Of course, every diamond painter in the world would want to put their artworks on display once they finished working on a DIY diamond painting piece. However, diamond drills are not 100% secure on the canvas specially if dust, humidity, lint, and wet substances get into them. These conditions can cause the glue on the canvas to “lose their stick” which can cause the diamonds to fall out.

To prevent this unwanted situation, you might want to seal your finished diamond paintings with clear, quick-drying adhesives (like glue, modge podge or resin-based sealants). These will surely give your paintings an additional a protective layer to keep them from falling apart. With its clear properties, you can rest assured that the adhesive will not dull the diamond’s shimmering sparkle!

TIP#5: Get rid of pesky air bubbles with a small blade

Another pesky problem that comes with a rolled canvas? Pesky air bubbles. These annoying patches of air stuck in between the printed canvas and the sticky layer of glue that holds the diamond in place can be a real problem.

They cause ridges and uneven surface on the canvas. Diamonds tend to look soggy and would often droop down when pasted on these areas. Not to mention that it also causes diamonds to fall out easily.

Lucky for you, there is a very simple solution to this dilemma. Pop them bubbles out! What you want to do is take a small sharp knife and poke holes in (or slice through) the air bubbles. Once all the air fizzles out, you can just take your drill pen and press down the bulging layer of protective film. Crisis averted!
